Walkathon

I Want to Walk
The Herbie Rollinson Memorial Walk for the Kids is all about the Kids, and all about the walk! Lace up your sneakers and join us at The Slab/Veteran's Park in downtown Shelton. This half-mile path is smoothly paved with red brick and is shaded with both adolescent and mature trees, with an open stretch to catch plenty of sunshine. The west leg offers a view of the Housatonic River. The Shelton Farmer's Market is adjacent to the park. And in the center, a grassy expanse will be populated with the Soupstock pro/amateur cook-off competition, live bands, artisans and vendors, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley's classic and antique car show.

Prizes will be awarded to the top individual and the top team fundraisers. Pledge forms may be downloaded by clicking the "I Want to Walk!" button above, or picked up at the Shelton or Ansonia clubhouses, or contact Ann Wheeler at AnnWheeler@BGC-LNV.org, 203-924-7462. All pledge forms and money should be brought with you the morning of the walk.

Our top individual fundraiser last year was Jen DeLeon. Jen was a Club member for many years, was our Youth of the Year in 2006, and is now our 6&7 Program Director. She raised nearly $600, and her prize was a Nikon Cool Pix camera.

Our top team fundraiser last year was Team Zumba. Together, they raised nearly $3,000 to support our clubs! Their prize was a catered buffet lunch for 20 from David M. Grant Catering.

If you'd like to walk with us this year, please download a pledge form by clicking the "I Want to Walk!" button above. Your minimum pledge of $25 includes a commemorative walkathon T-shirt and lunch courtesy of Outback Steakhouse, exclusively for our walkers. In addition, you'll receive a discounted entry fee to the Soupstock Festival soup tent. Donations may also be made online with the PayPal payment portal to the left.
