For 70 years, the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley has provided a positive environment for children and teens throughout the Valley.

Our mission is to provide, in a safe environment, programs that inspire, educate, guide, and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

Every young person will have equitable access to high-quality positive youth development that enables them to: Experience social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being, graduate high school equipped with skills and experiences that will lead to post-secondary, work, and life success, and lead change that will advance their Clubs, their communities, and the nation.

Shaye has been part of our Club family since 1999, starting as an intern and working her way up from counselor to director. In 2013, she became our Executive Director and has been passionately championing the youth in our community ever since.

Jim first knew our Club as a member, and he’s been part of our staff since 1987. Over the years, he’s worn many hats—from Physical Director to Unit Director—and now serves as our Director of Operations, continuing to make a lasting impact on our Club.

Jennifer credits the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley for shaping who she is today. She began as an eight-year-old Club member and has spent the past twenty years as the Lavietes Clubhouse Area Director, providing support and inspiration to thousands of youth. Beyond the Club, she continues to give back to the community in her role as a school social worker. Her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to empowering young people.

Baron Jones

Baron Jones holds a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Kentucky University and a MS in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. He has extensive nonprofit experience, including consulting for a ministry serving those in need, and has coached basketball, baseball, and soccer while serving on the Ansonia Little League Board of Directors. Baron began his Boys & Girls Club career in 2016 as Athletic Supervisor at the Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse, later serving as Program Director before becoming Area Director in Ansonia. He lives in Ansonia with his wife and two sons.

Taylor Maynard

Taylor, a lifelong resident of Ansonia, began her journey with the Smilow Club in 2011 as a Summer Camp Counselor. Over the years, she has grown within the organization, serving as Membership Coordinator and now as Program Director. Outside of the Club, Taylor stays actively involved in the community by supporting Ansonia Football at both the youth and high school levels. Above all, she enjoys spending quality time with her greatest motivation—her son, Jordan.
