Leave a Legacy with a Donor Advised Funds
Recommend a grant from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to benefit Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. While the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley does not sponsor a Donor Advised Fund, we are a qualified nonprofit eligible to receive grants from DAFs. Donor Advised Funds
Recommend a grant from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. While we do not sponsor a Donor Advised Fund, we are a qualified nonprofit to receive grants from DAFs. You can easily recommend that your DAF provider make a grant to support your preferred designation at the Boys & Girls Club.

How It Works
Recommending your grant is a simple three-step process:

1. Sign into Your DAF Account and Locate Your DAF Provider’s Grant-Recommendation Form

Most grant recommendation forms are located in the password-protected area of your DAF provider’s website. You’ll likely have the option to print a grant recommendation form or complete a similar form online. (The latter is helpful for more time-sensitive recommendations.)

2. Complete Key Information in Your Form

Your DAF grant should be directed to:
Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley
1 Positive Place
Shelton, CT 06484
Federal Tax ID: 060653185
Contact name: Nicole Stere (NicoleStere@bgc-lnv.org)

Be sure to note the intended purpose of your grant, including any specific program or designation you’d like to support. This information is usually requested in a section labeled “Grant Purpose” or “Recommended Purpose”. Additionally, indicate whether you would like the grant’s donor to be recognized as the name of the DAF account holder(s) or the name of the DAF account itself. This is important to ensure that we properly identify, credit, and acknowledge your gift.

3. Submit Your Completed Recommendation Form

You can either mail the printed form to your DAF provider or submit the form electronically, depending on your provider’s process.

Other Important Notes

  • The IRS prohibits DAFs from making distributions that provide more than an incidental benefit to a donor. For example, distributions cannot be applied toward pre-existing pledges or used to gain membership benefits.
  • You cannot mix DAFs with the IRA Charitable Rollover. IRA Charitable Rollover gifts must be made directly to a qualified charity, such as the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, to receive the Rollover’s benefits.
  • You can designate the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley as the beneficiary of your remaining DAF funds upon your passing. We can provide you with the appropriate beneficiary designation language if you’d like to create this kind of gift.

Consult with Your Advisors
We recommend that all supporters consult with their financial, legal, and tax advisors during their philanthropic planning. Once you’ve had these discussions, please feel free to reach out to Nicole Stere at NicoleStere@bgc-lnv.org with any further questions.
