COMMODORE HULL THANKSGIVING DAY 5K ROAD RACE PACES INTO IT’S 22ND YEAR – HONORARY STARTER ANNOUNCE

Nov 22, 2024

Shelton, CT, October 28, 2024 – As Fall sets in, the 22nd Annual Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5K Road Race—a cherished community tradition—is fast approaching. The road race, orchestrated by Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, is one of their major fundraising events. Scheduled for Thanksgiving morning, the iconic charity road race begins 8 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Shelton, paces downtown and over the
Derby-Shelton bridge, winds through Derby, and loops back to Shelton, offering participants a scenic route through the historic downtown areas of these neighboring towns.

“From its humble beginnings of about 300 runners, the Commodore Hull 5k Road Race has become a sought- after event on Thanksgiving morning,” says Jimmy Tickey, Chair of the Commodore Hull Road Race. “We look forward to starting our Thanksgiving Day with this All-American Valley tradition with runners and their families,” continued Tickey.

This year, we are thrilled to announce Michael Augusti, Vice President of Sales and Service for Mutual Security Credit Union, as our Honorary Starter for the road race! Michael has been a dedicated member of the Commodore Hull Thanksgiving Day 5k Road Race planning committee for a notable period. Mutual Security Credit Unit has also been a steadfast supporter of Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley. This was an exciting choice and we are pleased to honor Mr. Augusti.

As we round the corner of the one month countdown, early registration is encouraged, as race shirts and bibs are guaranteed only for runners who register by November 18, 2024. The registration fee for participants aged
elementary to 18 is $20, participants aged 19 to 69 is $35, which will increase to $40 starting November 1.

Youth participants under 18 can register for $20, and registration is free for those aged 70 and older. The race is capped, so runners are urged to secure their spots quickly. For full details, including FAQs, visit the race website at bgc-lnv.org/commodore-hull-5k.
